Takoyaki
Fried octopus ball-shaped dumplings │20 pieces
Takoyaki is a very popular Japanese street food dish.
You can’t visit a street festival or fair in Japan without seeing a takoyaki stand on every corner. Nowadays, this dish has also become immensely popular in the West. They are round, golden-brown batter balls filled with pieces of octopus (tako), spring onion, and pickled ginger. They are cooked in a special takoyaki pan with half-spherical molds, which gives them their characteristic shape, similar to the traditional Dutch poffertjes pan.
The outside is lightly crispy, while the inside remains soft and creamy. Takoyaki is often served with savory takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise, aonori (seaweed flakes), and dancing katsuobushi (bonito flakes).
